Our Favorite Wings in Dublin

Before we moved to Ireland, Michael started doing a weekly wing night with some of his friends. I was a little bit worried, because when I lived in Australia in 2010, I couldn’t find wings anywhere - the sauce just didn’t exist! When we visited Ireland to find an apartment in 2018, I was relieved to find that there were wings.

I know there are a ton of articles that will tell you about the best wings in Dublin, but we wanted to share our favorites with all of our fans. So, here they are:

Rody Boland’s

One you might not hear about from the likes of Lovin Dublin, but it’s definitely a solid choice in our humble opinion. The wings are small and saucy and - most importantly - consistent. They are served in two sizes, small and large, and come with a minted bleu cheese dip that is not our favorite. Besides buffalo, they also come in a Jameson BBQ and dry rub.

One other aspect of Rody’s that we are very into is the atmosphere. It’s just a good, chill pub. Dubliners might say it’s country, but it’s only a seven minute walk from our place and we dig the vibe.

Another Rathmines staple and even closer to our apartment. The wings are really good, the restaurant is cute and small with indoor and outdoor seating options. If we sit outside, we can even bring Sage! The bleu cheese dip is even good! Good sauce to wing ratio, and last time we got them delivered (we usually just do take away, but they’re only doing delivery during the quarantine) they were so good - actually crispy, which you know is not an easy thing for delivery wings!

Tribeca

You’ll definitely hear about Tribeca on Lovin Dublin - it’s how we found out about the wings at Tribeca. When dining in, they definitely stand up to the hype. The dressing is actually legit. The biggest downsides for us were the fact that they don’t serve any flats (we are both flats-people) and they put a napkin in the bottom of the basket that creates a weird soaking / soggy situation that’s not ideal. We both love extra sauce. The last con is that it’s not the kind of place I would think “yeah, let’s eat some wings here!” But that doesn’t prevent tons of people from ordering them!

Sister restaurant of Tribeca, Canal Bank Cafe’s wings are just as good. For €14.95 per order, they’re a bit pricy, but the portions are very big. If we could do 1.5 orders, that would be good for us on a hungry day. In the restaurant (which is very nice and, again, a little too classy for proper wing eating), they also put the napkin in the bottom of the basket. I have gotten take away from here a couple of times as a special treat for Michael because the restaurant is on my walk home. The first time the wings were outstanding, the last time they were lacking in sauce, but still good. I will give them a million bonus points for how well they wrap them because last time the bag ripped when I was like a block from home and everything stayed in tact (with the exception of one bleu cheese dressing - thank goodness I asked for extra!).

A good standby option when we’re ordering wings for our new Wing Thursday tradition (it lines up with the release of Hot Ones). Michael says “the meat is really good, it’s like fall off the bone.” The buffalo sauce flavor is on point, they arrive crispy but not overcooked. We would recommend ordering an extra side of hot sauce if you like them saucy like we do. The bleu cheese dressing is also competitive here. Extra marks for their french fries!

New to Rathmines, but not new to Dublin, we’re glad to have another wing option in our hood. The wings stand up to the hype and the dressing is good. Big orders, but another pricy option with each order costing €14.95.

Wishbone

I have yet to be here, but I’ve been dying to go. Michael has been there a few times. He says the vibe in the restaurant is young, with a lot of college kids because they do good meal deals. He considers them the elite of the traditional Dublin wings - the Frank’s hot sauce. Loaded with flavor, they come in a huge bowl, you’re definitely full… if you can finish your order. It always seems to be a good choice and a go to. Definitely make a booking in advance!

And one last one, which we’ll pour some buffalo sauce out for since they closed last June:

The Hill Pub

Oh man, The Hill Pub was one of our favorite pubs in Dublin. They did a wing roulette on Wednesdays with three different flavors of wings plus two pints for €20 and they were so good. The staff was the friendliest and it was always just so chill there. Whenever we wanted good food and to have a chat, The Hill Pub was the answer. We miss you!!

We’ll keep trying wings and maybe we’ll edit this post. But so far, these are our favorite wings in Dublin!
